Flashback

Palmdale, Los Angelos
The Alley

Down the dark alley lined with red bricks that sat neatly on top of each other forming the old buildings that created the walls of the alley. A trashed poster which was impossible to read was pinned to the back wall that lead to another alleyway.

This was where the two cloaked figures left the baby to die from the cold rain and wind that blew and fell upon the small infant in a trashed basket. The child’s screams were reduced to inhuman coughing noises. It was soon to die…

Then from the turned corner of the other alleyway, a shadow reflected onto the wall followed by incoming foot steps and puddle splashes that disturbed the silence. Then turned from the corner, the hood of a maroon colored cloak that was held closed by a single red heart pin peered over the surface of the wall who eyed the dieing child. The figure then rushed to the baby’s side kneeling down to it “So… this is what happened to you.…” A light voice spoke though the hood. The cloaked girl picked the infant up, holding it to her chest. The infant then stopped its coughing sound to look up at the cloaked face. The girl smiled through her cloak hiding her eyes “I wish I can take you… but I can’t…” The child returned the smile with small fangs baring toothfully. She laughed a little to this. “That’s what I want to see…” She began to rock the child slowly from side to side, then the girl began to hum to a low tune that echoed through the alley “Baby mine… down you cry…” She began to sing “Baby mine… dry your eyes…” She skimmed her finger down the child’s face “Rest your head close to my heart, never to part, baby of mine…” She then placed the baby head close to her own, rubbing it lightly with her cheek. The baby then reached out for the silver heart necklace around the girl’s neck that bared a dragon pattern on the back and on the front engraved “Kaida”. The girl noticed, then reached out for it, feeling it with her fingers, smiling weakly but warmly. “You want this?” She whispered to the infant. The baby giggled with happiness still reaching for it. The girl then began to take it off allowing it to gleam in the low light, then she placed it around the baby’s neck. “Give it to the one you love most… the one close to your heart…” A tear began to roll down her face “You are destined to be… Kaida…”
